On 6th November 2023 AB Workshops in conjunction with Funkgurus Artist Management hosts a bass masterclass with Janek Gwizdala.
London-born, US-based bass player, and record producer Janek Gwizdala has been on the international music scene for over twenty years, touring as a band leader and working as musical director or sideman with some of the most respected names in the industry. Janek is responsible for laying down the low-end for artists such as Randy Brecker, Jojo Mayer, Mike Stern, Hiram Bullock and many many more. As a band leader, Janek has released records under his own name which combine more influences and genres that you can shake a stick at. While the tag from outside might read ‘Modern Jazz’, delve a little deep and you’ll find so much more!
One thing that Janek does do with serious style is manage to splice his love of effects pedals with his varied music style in ways that many other musicians would be insisting on a clean tone. Janek has one of the most musical approaches to the composition of modern music.

Janek’s Masterclass performance topics and discussion will be directed by you, the participants! Whatever you want to cover Janek will happily discuss and demonstrate.
We will send a questionnaire out before the masterclass asking what you’d like Janek to cover.

Later in the evening after the masterclass, Janek will be performing material from his new album, which will be recorded in Argentina during summer. Janek is writing far more music this time around and plans to orchestrate elements of the album with two of his big compositional loves: choir and strings!
