“Contemporary Commercial (Pop) Music celebrates the individual artist and their voice. Whether you’re hoping to develop the power of Celine Dion or Freddie Mercury, the agility of Beyoncé or the individuality of Sam Smith we’re going to look at the basics of contemporary voice technique as well as the more advanced skills needed to sing with your own voice, with confidence and accuracy. Over the course of the day, we’ll look at how posture and breathing impact on your singing, how to effectively warm up and develop efficient articulation, how to improve your pitching, range, resonance, agility and power, ultimately working towards a masterclass setting where we can spend time on individual song choices.” – David Combes
This workshop is for everybody!
– Professional vocal performers looking to step to the next level
– Vocalists preparing for a final recital, first big concert, recording session, singing exam, or other important performance
– Non singers – There are spaces for ‘audience’ members, who will provide moral support and feedback to the singers, while also learning from watching the process unfold, and enjoying the social aspects of being in a group of like-minded people
You don’t have to be a great singer. We’re not looking for the next X factor finalist! You just need a love of the music and a willingness to commit to the workshop
